We occasionally run into birds who have been found and need to find their original homes or need new ones. If you think a bird here might be yours, please contact us at 416-738-7011 or thebirdresort@gmail.com. We will ask for proof of ownership (for example personal pictures, band numbers, identifying features, ect). Thank you for your co-operation.
All adoptive homes must be willing to have a meeting in your home about the bird and how to care for it. You must have a suitable cage prepared for the bird to live in, along with appropriate toys and perches. Please do not contact us if: -You are not prepared to commit to the 10-15 year lifespan of the bird; -You do not have a stable home; -You are looking for a pet for a young child; -You are looking to re-sell the bird for a profit, or; -You want a cheap bird.
If these are your motivations, please look elsewhere, or for the best interests of all birds, please don't buy a bird at all. These birds are for quality homes only and we will take precautions to ensure that. If the bird is not doing well in your home or you cannot keep it for whatever reason, we expect you to return the bird to us.
If you are interested in adopting a bird from us, please send an e-mail to thebirdresort@gmail.com answering the following questions. 1)What experience do you have with birds? 2)What birds do you have now? 3)Do you have a suitable cage for the bird? 4)Do you plan to breed the bird? 5)Who will be the main caretaker of the bird? 6)How much time each day and be devoted to the bird? 7)Is anyone in your home allergic to birds? 8)Do you have small children in the house? 9)Do you have other pets in the house? 10)What will you do with the bird if you cannot keep it anymore?
Only suitable homes will be contacted.

This is Mango, a Fischers lovebird. The gender is not known, but it gets along well with our male birds and we believe it to be a female. Mango was found in a parking lot of a mall in Etobicoke. She came here very weak and malnourished. She has gained back her strength and her weight is much better. Mango is not hand tame and prefers the company of other birds. She might be suitable to pair with another bird, or to live in an aviary style cage. Mango is banded and was hatched in 2007, making her 2 years old.
